When I was asked by Chris Antypas at the Launceston branch of Aussie Home Loans to photograph their luncheon with “Aussie John” aka John Symond – I was keen as I did not know much about the Aussie Home Loans story – I do a fair few of these types of promotions but this one was excellent, I could not help but get really into what Aussie John was talking about – he talked about our economy and how tough ALL of Australia is doing, not just Launceston or Tasmania but the whole of Australia.  John is an incredibly motivating guy, not someone who came from money and had an easy life like some speakers, rather he is a battler himself who has worked hard and had a lot of tough times throughout his own life, he took those tough times and knowledge and decided to take on the banks and try to bring more fairness into the marketplace for all Australian’s buying a home.

Many great suggestions were made, but one point in particular that John made and I totally agree with is that we all need to work together more, by that I mean not looking at our competitors and thinking of them as the enemy, but becoming friends with them and working out how you can help each other mutually.  I guess the message is that we need to go out of our little worlds once in a while and work mutually with other businesses and look at ways to help each other out.

I almost got so into the discussion I forgot what I was there for (Only for a split second mind you..haha) – Aussie John is a great guy, very down to earth and is someone who makes a lot of sense.  The biggest message I got out of it is …….. WE ARE NOT ALONE, ALL of Australia is telling him how tough things are BUT things will change “nothing lasts forever” and we need to work together to get through these tougher times.

I came out of the luncheon feeling a lot more positive about life in Tasmania in general I guess, things will get better people !!

Luckily just before a recent cold snap Joe + Angelina snuck in with a beautiful sunny day.  Married at the QVMAG (Queen Victoria Museum) I was very interested to see what the ceremony setting would look like, it was stunning, very elegant and beautiful which was everything Angelina had wished for.  Angelina is a hair dresser and I had a little smile to myself when she couldn’t do the hair for all of her girls, but she had a good go at it and was touching up everyone all day, which was funny to witness.  Everything and everyone had been thought of by this bride, even her Poodle made a few guest appearances which was awesome.

Reception held at the ever wonderful Cataract Bistro which again was very beautifully decorated, well done guys until we next catch up here are a few sneak peaks at some of your images……enjoy!

Craig + Caitlin had everything prepared, just because Queenstown is a small place Caitlin really wanted the wedding of her dreams and that is exactly what she had prepared and planned for and I have to say she did a fantastic job !!  The weather could have been a bit better but it didn’t rain so you have to be thankful of that and the surroundings were fantastic to work with.

Cascade Factory was the venue for both the ceremony and reception, my first time there and I loved it!  So close to the city yet far enough away to feel as though you were no where near anything at all.  I had met Ashlee before and spoken a few times, but when I walked into the boys place I had no idea who the groom was – always makes me smile a bit while I try to figure out who it is, but almost straight away this guy walks over and says “Hey I am Nick” – he is not aware of it but he is a cool fella – I think that is what makes cool people cool, they just are and don’t try to be something they are not, they just are ….  cool !!  haha

Fantastic weekend, loved every aspect of it.. well maybe apart from the hotel and the traffic lights beeping every 5 seconds all night keeping me awake !!

As much as I like Hobart every time I am there the weather is woeful, but the first day I was there I found myself saying “god it is muggy and hot” and it was, the day of the wedding however was a little hit and miss, but turned into a fantastic day apart from the hour it rained and of course it started JUST as Ashlee walked down the aisle !!  But my hat goes off to the guys, they did not let it worry them, they stuck it out and got married right there and then without missing a beat !

The boys were set in the morning getting all “groomed” up at The Celtic Barber with cut throat shaves and some hair cuts, while the girls were getting their hair done at Harmony in the city – after this is was a quick trip back to each parents houses to get dressed and out the door.

After some of the dodgy weather we have been having lately, the day was perfect not hot and not cold luckily – so everyone was happy and the day went off without a hitch !  Both ceremony and reception held at The Leaning Church Vineyard, in Lalla – a sweet little spot tucked away out in the middle of beautiful surroundings and it always gives a really relaxed vibe to every wedding I have done out that way – perfect feel for a wedding I think !

Still spending some time with friends and family in Tassie until they take their honeymoon later on in Europe – which will be amazing !!

Nestled out of the way of anything is a very old school mansion, think Clarendon House, Entally Estate, Woolmers etc but even better this one is where Jonathan + Emma live, Jonathan is the manager for the property and as part of the deal they get to live there and enjoy what country life brings!  This place was magic, I can not believe that it is still privately owned and is still very true to form and has all the trimmings that such a property deserves – I remember saying on the day “The original owners must have been filthy rich, I mean they have their own Church!”

These guys are a little bit like the Brady Bunch, Emma with her two girls met Jonathan with his two girls – they all must have got along well cause the result was one spectacular wedding!  Weather was absolutely perfect, location spot on and Emma & her bridesmaids did the most beautiful decorations I have seen, so much effort went into it all and a lot of time I would say.  Everything was so unique and after getting to go to so many weddings I have never seen a wedding decorated like this, simply stunning and very much a country/vintage feel to the day.

One of the nicest, most loving and happy families I have come across – and one hell of a beautiful wedding guys, my hat goes off to you!

To give a few ideas to anyone yet to be married I have included heaps of images from this wedding, the reception was held in an old barn or storage house I guess you would call it, I just loved it all!

Flowers were stunning – Fleur’s @ Prospect, cake was awesome by Tamar Valley Cakes, dress was absolutely stunning and yes Emma I have never seen one like it – custom made just for this lucky girl & decorations made all by themselves!

I had heaps of people asking about it, if they should do it and wondering about whether that precious dress could take it.  As a matter of interest I heard from Julian + Julianna after their “Trash the Dress” and they told me that after the dry cleaners it was spotless and you would never know – so there you go after all that mud and water it came back perfect !!

I was the photographer for Ben + Clare’s wedding a while ago and through that wedding met their brother and sister-in-law Daniel + Catherine (Part of the bridal party) and they all wanted to know if the four of them could participate in a session – absolutely I said !

So the day was planned out, my car was crammed full of gear and things to use just in case – but as usual it was the beautiful locations that did all the work & the awesome couples !

Starting off at Hollybank, then off to a secluded railway tunnel and finishing off at Lilydale Falls the locations were amazingly stunning – dirty, wet and muddy but that is the point isn’t it ?

When Corey + Tanya told me they were going to get married on Nudist Beach – my first thought was “what are we all going to be wearing?” – no it is not a “Nudist” beach it just shares the name.  If you have never heard of it, it’s just past Greens Beach and it is little but stunning none the less and this is where these two were to wed !  As luck would have it 20 mins before the ceremony was due to start the rain started and the wind picked up big time, I REALLY felt for these two, they had done their best and had it all looking spectacular but sometimes things don’t always go 100% your way, thus was the case for these guys as the rain or wind never let up the rest of the day.  What else could they do but get married anyway and with that thought, that is exactly what we did!

On anotherpositive note, every time I have a wedding and this happens I end up getting some of my most favourite images and Corey + Tanya’s wedding was no exception – of course we all had ideas of big blue sunny skies, but instead we got some really creative and great images I am sure these two will admire for the rest of their lives.

Both the ceremony and reception were held at Grindlewald which is a top spot often not thought about, the ceremony was on the lake and the reception held at the restaurant just close by, first to admit it Bess + Rance did have a lot of dramas leading up to their wedding day, just small niggling little things but as I always say things will work themselves out and they did.

Funny story, Bess was getting ready in town and then was arriving via helicopter which is a great way to make an entrance, anyway I am on the highway to Grindlewald when I see this helicopter going over – I had organised the time so well in the morning that I thought that could not be her, no way – but I still was stressed out to the max thinking of her arriving without her photographer being there, luckily for me my assistant was with the boys so it would have been fine – but still worried the heck outta me!  I got there and it was another helicopter, who would have thought there would be two helicopters going the same way – phew !!

Still off enjoying their honeymoon, till we next catch up here are a few teasers for you guys……

Jessie had planned a fantastic day, along with a fair bit of help from Ben I am sure!  Both the ceremony and reception were held in the Gorge which is always a perfect spot with such beauty all around.

Ben + Jessie are currently enjoying themselves in Thailand, hopefully in some heat and relaxing a lot!
